This piece makes my eyes move downward. I like the shape you created, it gives me the feeling of a character from an old video game or a piece of jewelry. I wish you could have done something with the frame.
From the photo, your craftsman ship seems spot on, all your lines look like they were cut straight. In my opinion, this element is really important in a piece like this since theres not much else to zero in on, so straight lines, good organization, and the consistency of both is important. The two outer most shapes are the only ones that seem not measured out with the same care as the rest of the piece, but they're not even off by much. Good job
This reminds me of the motives assignment we did in WARP. The cutting of those 1" tiles are amazing. Your craft has improved so much since the beginning of this semester and it shows. I do however feel like this piece further developement.
I think the craftsmanship is great, you did a really good job using the paint swatches. I would've liked to see more contrast, but overall is a good piece.

ReplyDeleteI also feel the same way that it reminds me of an older retro game type spaceship (Galaga?) and I also like the gradient layout for your swatches.
